History of the Health Center
Originally called the Casco Bay Health Center, the Peaks Island Health Center was established in 1976 by a group of Peaks Islanders in cooperation with Maine Medical Center. Originally housed in a remodeled home, today’s facility is a modern state of the art clinic built through a community, public partnership and in cooperation with the Volunteers of America of Northern New England who own and manage the attached senior housing complex. Over its 30 years there have been a number of rewarding relationships with individuals and group providers. Now it has come full circle as a successful, ongoing collaboration between Maine Medical Partners Family Medicine and the Peaks Island Health Association.
