About the event

Join Steven Belanger, Speech-Language Pathologist at Mid Coast

Hospital in Brunswick, for a community conversation about cognitive

impairment and healthy aging. Dr. Belanger, Ph.D. BC-ANCDS,

specializes in the assessment and treatment of adult neurological

communication disorders with an emphasis on stroke and dementia.


This presentation & following conversation will review diagnostic criteria

and defining characteristics of mild cognitive impairment and dementia.

Signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease during the early, middle,

and late stages also will be discussed as well as the potential benefits

of current medications. Finally, recommendations for lifestyle behavioral

interventions that have been reported in the literature to facilitate

maintenance of cognitive abilities as one ages will be presented.
