The Peaks Island Health Association is pleased to partner with North Point’s Recovery in Maine (RiME) program to present an evening of inspirational short films and to engage community conversation. Three brief documentary films will be shown, each detailing the story of Mainer’s paths to recovery from substance use disorder. The films to be shown include Coming Home, a story of a Maine man, a father, who served time in prison and the powerful story of his reintegration into the community and reconnecting with his son. Youth Voices is a masterful work about the experience of children/teens who have a family member in recovery, and the story of their self empowerment in the recovery process. Queer Voices speaks to the challenges to recovery faced by members the LGBTQ community and mobilization of supports within that community to catalyze a return to wellness in recovery.
We hope that you will join us for this special evening. Details of the event are listed on the program flier below. We want to thank Sarah Erwin of RiME for the invitation to collaborate in making this program a reality for the Peaks Island community.
